Vintage Heaven is a store that was previously located at 112 29th St NE, Cedar Rapids, IA. This store has moved to two different locations, previously being housed in a small building, now holding Decades Vintage, which is independently owned separately from Vintage Heaven. According to David Moore’s—one of Vintage Heaven’s owners—Facebook page, the store is now closing down again to be relocated into a more mobile environment, having been rebranded to Vintage Heaven Mobile.
Vintage Heaven offers a diverse selection of items, including music (records, cassettes, CDs), DVDs and VHS of TV shows and movies, toys for children, comic books, collectibles, coloring books, clothing, hats, playing cards, and more. All of it comes from the customers who sell their stuff to Vintage Heaven, Moore’s own collection, conventions and more.
All items bought and sold at “Vintage Heaven” are gently used items or items that are in good enough condition to still work. Everything in the store’s previous location was organized in a way to make it easy to find stuff. There was what was called the “Vault” where they kept all the physical media—movies, music, etc. Next to that was books and comics and some collectable items. There was a section for posters, more collectables and toys. Then there was a section for clothes and hats.
Moore has decided to keep the little vintage shop running from inside his garage; it will now be through Facebook Marketplace, where people can go pick things up, or he can bring things to them. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to keep track of Vintage Heaven Mobile’s social media accounts to see if there are any updates on items.
Vintage Heaven Mobile is also now in a location partnership with Old Juice: Vintage and Collectables. They’re located at 417 3rd Ave SW in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Old Juice is open from 10 AM-6 PM every day, where people can deliver items sold to Vintage Heaven Mobile and pick up items.
Vintage Heaven has been a safe space for many people throughout the years it’s been running, and there were a lot of regulars who loved seeing Moore as much as they could. Moore took the time to get to know his customers and their interests. Moore was known to hold on to items he knew his regular customers liked to give them an opportunity to see the items before they were sold. That is what a lot of people love about the vintage store. Vintage Heaven will be missed as an environment, but it will still be loved by the community.
